How sturdy is this "shuttle shift" setup on this tractor? And has anyone heard of a 186? It supposedly has about 17 HP. I think I can still back out of the deal and get a different tractor? I am having some reservations about my purchase because I haven't been able to find this model anywhere.

Thanks,
Bill Klemme

The YM186 was a really well built tractor. Yanmar produced them for four years, from 1980 to 1983. Then replaced it with the YM187, which was basically the same but with taller tires and a 5" longer wheelbase. I sold alot of them and they have held up very good, as have all their other models with the Power Shift Transmission. It was sold as a 18 H.P. and had a three cyl. engine. The hydraulics are very powerful and quite fast. I think you will be glad you bought it. Gary J. ....

Thanks for the info. I tried out the snowblower on it today prior to delivery next week, It works good but when I pushed in the clutch to stop the PTO there was a loud ratcheting sound from underneath somewhere...sounded like the transmission case. It lasted about 2-3 seconds after every release of the clutch. It could be normal I suppose. Anyone know if it is normal?

It was probably the over running clutch. ....
